My story

Minjeong Kang Bio

I am Minjeong Kang, native from Daegu, South Korea.

At the age of five years I started to play the piano. During the following 10 years I began to understand the beauty and complexity of classical music. Since than I am fascinated by music.

During High school I decided to move to Italy as soon I turn 18. And so within one month after my 18th birthday I moved to Italy. I left my country in the spirit of adventure, but at the very beginning this new life was not as simple as I thought: everything seemed so small or too big.

In 1998 I decided to attend the International School of Violin Making “Antonio Stradivari” in Cremona. My first thought was that this school would only be the very first step of several experiences of my new “European life”. But violinmaking literally conquered me.

In 2003 I began to work with Master Edgar Russ. Once again I considered this cooperation one of many experiences that would have formed my new profession; but it has been the beginning of our artistic and business partnership that lasts until now.
As a matter of fact, in 2009 we funded Sound of Cremona Ltd.: one of the brightest violin making realities here in Cremona and in Italy.

In 2005 I had been a member of the “Cremona-Kremlin” Project. My Cello has been choosen and played by Marina Archakova, First cellist of the prestigious Kremlin Chamber Orchestra.

In 2009 I participated with my personal designed 41,5 Viola at XII International Violin Making competition Antonio Stradivari of Cremona, known as “Triennale di Cremona”.
I qualified 4th place and beside of the Honourable Mention of the Triennale I received a special Honor Mention of the Camber of Commerce of Cremona for this viola.

Living in Cremona has taught me to appreciate the real essence of Italian lifestile: the ability of changing a flaw in something unique and fascinating without being obsessed by perfection.

Over the past years I also developed the skill to give to all of my instruments a  deep and powerful sound. This features combined with the care for little details have allowed me to create violins, violas, cellos and double basses which are admired and chosen by many musicians all over the world.
